what i am currently reading

i have been reading the new prochecy warriors book 3 dawn.  i am about on page 131.  this book is very good but the only part i didn't like is when squirrelpaw and brambleclaw come back to the clan and they have to explain thier journey to the clan.  it was a really boring part because i had already heard about thier journey to sun-drown place.  i was so sad when graystripe got caught by the twolegs and i hope he will come back because he is one of the main character's best friend.  i know that all of the clans make the journey to find a new home but i don't know when they will find a new home and i'm not sure how the clans, windclan espesially will be strong enough to make the journey because they are starving.  i hope squirrelpaw becomes a warrior soon but thier is so much caous in thunderclan that she probably will becomne a warrior when the clans make it to thier new home.  this book has a deep meaning in it.  i realized that erin hunter was trying to get through to people and say that wrecking forests harms animals.  the twolegs are tearing apart the clans' forest so the cats are starving.  all of the prey is dying so thier is nothing left to eat.  also this book talks about how animals would feel if they got captured and put in cages.  all the cats that got caught in the forest got put in metal cages.  the bottom of the cages made the cats feet bleed.  the wild cats were also afraid of the humans that came by the cages.  one cat, cole tried to attack the human because it was scared and when he attacked the human the human shoved cole back and cole hit something sharp and tore his leg open.  if leafpaw couldnt have been thier to help patch coles leg up and give him cobweb cole could have died from the loss of blood or he could have lost his leg.  that goes to show how humans treat animals even if they don't realize it.

the earth-ling inference

the earth-ling is a poem by brian patten.  brian patten made this poem with a very deep connection but other people probably have a different connection or inference to this poem than brian does.  i think this poem is about how an immortal human got dumped on earth from a different planet, the planet called alzorus.  the earth-ling or human created things.  he started off as a cave-man then grew into pioneer life and then modern life. then the earth-ling tells how it will be like in the future and how he hates earth in the future because mistakes were made.  maybe those mistakes were inventing things that didn't have a positive impact on our world.  when the earth-ling says " but this is the basic story, the terrible story" i think he is saying that there is a positive story but only if we re-write the negative story for the future and not make any more mistakes that were made.

heritage fair topic plan

for my heritage fair topic i'm going to do sable island. i am hoping to contact the archives of nova scotia to get some history on sable island.  i would like to focus on the history of sable island, the horses, climate and land and sable island as it is today.  i think adding a couple personal thoughts of how sable island should look 5-10 years ago would be a good idea.  i am going to try to use books and archives more than the internet because it will be easier and i will know the information is more reliable.  i'm not sure about any items or artifacts at this point, i'm going to have to contact some people and ask around for some artifacts. hopefully after the winter break i will be more sure.  while doing this project i am also going to talk about a photographer and his show i watched. thats what inspired me to do this topic.

why is reading important?

reading is very important! not only is it sometimes fun to read once you find the right book or article but it helps you in everyday life.  there are words all around you and if you don't know how to read or aren't good at it chances are you won't be able to find a good job.  reading also helps you become a better writer by reading other authors books.  i can't imagine what it would be like if i couldn't read! i certainly wouldn't do good in school and it would be hard to know what high school to go to for a basketball game or what movies are playing at the theater! reading is apart of everyday life and it needs to be acknowledged!

what is inferring?

what is inferring? what does it mean to infer something?  when you infer, you are finding the deeper meaning of the text or picture or you are just making sense of what you are reading or looking at.  you want to take the clues from the text or picture and then combine the clues with your prior knowledge to make your inference. you make inferences everyday even if you don't realize it.
try to take the clues and prior knowledge from the picture an the text to make an inference on what is happening in this comic.

in school my class read the wretched stone. its is about a sail ship that is delivering supplies to another place. they stop by a piece of land that is not charted on the map. the crew decide to stop on the island. there are no animals on the island and their is a lot of vegatation but their is not any fuit. the water also tastes bad. the crew brought a very strange rock on board.  it is about two feet across and is rough on one side but on the other side it is smooth. the crew start to gaze at the rock and eventually they turn into hairy apes (no joke). the crew decide to leave the only man that doesn't gaze at the rock to man the who ship.  the crew used to sing and dance and read but now they just stare at the rock!  the man who didn't turn into an ape starts to read, play music and dance with the apes and eventually they turn back into humans.

this book has a very deep meaning that at first is hard to understand for a lot of people.  the big rock is like a t.v.  if you watch t.v. for to long you kind of turn into an ape.  the crew used to sing and dance and be educated but after the rock was on board they started to loose that cheerful happiness in which they did everything.  the inference is that is if you watch t.v. or play video games for to long you will start to maybe get addicted and will start failing grades or not keeping up in your sports and activities.

warriors book 2: fire and ice

fire alone can save our clan..
rusty is a thunderclan warrior in the 2nd warriors book who completed his apprentice training.  he befriends graystripe, the cat he first met when he first adventured into the forest.  not all cats in thunderclan accept fireheart because he was a kittypet but he tries to make his place in the forest.  with winter setting in the rival riverclan and shadowclan cats are growing restless and invading thunderclan's territory for food.  windclan has most of the problems since the whole clan got driven out by the dangerous leader of shadowclan, brokenstar.  now fireheart not only faces having to go into imminent battle but betrayal within his own clan to do what he thinks is right.

i think all the books in the warrior series are great and adventurous. this book had a lot going on in it which kept me wanting to read it forever.  there was never or rarely a boring part and many events occurred in warriors fire and ice. i would give this book a 10/10.

warriors book 1: into the wild

fire alone can save our clan..
there has been four clans of wild cats living in the forest for many generations. thunderclan lives in the forest, riverclan lives on the island surrounded by the river, shadowclan lives in a wet, swampy place and windclan lives on the moorland. each clan lives by the rules made up by their warrior ancestors. warriors into the wild is about a house cat or "kittypet" named rusty that shows up in the forest when thunderclan is in danger.  shadowclan, a great threat to thunderclan is growing stronger everyday and with brokenstar as their leader they are bound to break the rules of the warrior code.  with noble warriors in thunderclan dying, some deaths more mysterious than others rusty may turn out to be the bravest, courageous cat of them all.. is their any hope for thunderclan to proudly prowl their home, the forest?

this is a book you could read over and over again.  it has fantasy, mystery and action. while reading this book i found it very hard to put down, even after the third time i've read it.  i give this book a 10/10.  erin hunter has a really good imagination and good writing skills that keeps this book exciting and interesting.
